1,000s – No, Hundreds – Attend Rally In Vancouver

December 5th, 2008 Posted in Canada Election

Depending on who you read (or believe) Vancouver was host to HUGE rallies in support of the coalition.

The Georgia Strait claims 1.500, The Canadian Press says 1,000. The pictures say about a hundred or so.

This represents less than 1/2 of 1/10 of 1% of the Greater Vancouver population. And it was sunny out.

About 450 people supporting the coalition packed a hall next the Halifax Forum.

In Edmonton, about 400 people braved cold to protest at city hall.

I am guessing across the country it adds up to about 4,000 people.

Seeing that the unions sponsored most events, you’d think they could get a small percentage of their membership out.

Doesn’t bode well for the coalition.

Calgary had 50, pumped up to 100 on some networks. I wish one of the bloggers could track down that BT posting with a link to the website. Originally you scrolled down to the bottom and there was the NDP as the set up team. I wish I could remember the BLOG. It was either on late Sunday night and forward…. Early this week, anyway. What a crock!
    Money, money, money!

In Edmonton it was more like 150 if not less and it look like they went and empty the soup kitchens (favorite tactic of the NDP) to get that many.

The trouble with the MSM protest-counts is that they count the local Wino’s over and over.

If you tag the same guy enough times you can have any number you want.

BTW, folks…Calgary, is asking for donations to the food bank. Can the union protesters, anywhere say the same or will they copy another Conservative idea, get coverage and look like saints.
    Another CROCK!!

I got a kick out of the camera angles in Edmonton = from behind and close up showing a small crowd – the for crowd was taken from the side making it look much larger.

I was at the Vancouver rally, so were staff from the PMO, it was easily 1,000 – but I thought it was closer to 2,000. That is a huge room.

These event are a farce because we always see the numbers get padded to the point where it’s off by 3-400 percent.

Just take a look at the pride parade in Toronto and see the lies, we keep hearing Miller demanding more money from Ottawa for the under funded TTC that can’t handle the present passenger loads.
YET……Miller now gives money to support the pride parade because it attracts “1’000’000″ people and bring in $75 million in tourism dollars .
So basically…..the TTC handles close to 1.5 million fares that day and not one complaint comes from the Workers that the trains and buses are falling apart and can’t handle the load.

Which one is it mayor Miller , IS the TTC well funded but the money goes to the labour costs leaving little for the actual passengers to benefit from by safe and well run vehicles?, OR….is the 1’000’000 visitors a big fat lie to justify the more demands from Ottawa because Toronto sends Billions there and gets little back.

I guess Miller now knows how we feel about the Toronto property-tax rates when close to 85% of it goes to Salaries and benefits for Union City workers and leaves on 15% for a tangible service , PLUS…..user-fees are added and new taxes keep being piled on for Services that Miller originally claimed were included in the taxes already.
The new scam by the leftist protestors is to hold a protest on a saturday at the busiest intersection in Toronto so they can take photos and claim every in the picture support their cause. Remember the protest to support Omar Khadr , it was a flop with a mere 50 or so people in Toronto but the media filmed close-ups and several angles to portray it as a massive turn-out for the Khadr family support .
Lies, damn lies, and then protest attendence numbers for leftist causes.

The Vancouver Convention Centre website states that particular hall holds 1500 people. There were 60 seats across by 15 deep, so there’s 1050. The perimeter was full as well and when the doors closed, they said it was because they had reached their legal limit of 1500. At that time there were clearly 300-400 outside the ballroom. Almost 2000 is a pretty fair estimate.
