2,215 Pages That Are Killing The Automakers

UAW Contact

Imagine trying to restructure your company if this was your employment contract.

The AUW agreement averages 22 pounds (in this case, Ford’s 2,215 page 2007 master contract; hundreds of rules, regulations, and letters of understanding that have hamstrung the auto companies for years).

If you’d like to read the contracts for yourself, here they are here.

Toss this into the can, and they might just make it.

Well I can understand the scorn regarding the massive work
rules and the auto workers contract in general I want to remind everyone that the buck stops at management desk.
The big three Management had 30 years off opportunity
    to get it done right.
It is managements job to run the company, decide on products, marketing etc. and, yes, set the limits on collective bargaining. The pound of flesh should be the resignations of senior management with NO Severence.
I hate to know that all the bail out in the world will not sell thier vehicles. My dad used to say “don’t eat yellow snow”, and “don’t piss into the wind”.
No wonder we get sick of it all

This reminds me of the recent Aboriginal Settlement for the past Abuses , by the time the Lawyers got through with all the Documents and claims they managed to skim-off about 50% of OUR tax dollars and left the victims to be screwed one more time by the White-man.
    BTW
I keep hearing that the labour to build a car in a CAW Plant is only 7% of the car costs , if true….this means we’ve been screwed by them for years now because that leaves 97% for profits .
I’m assuming the CAW knows that everyone else worked for free and only the assembly counts as Real-Jobs.
