Bacon Brother Gets Life – 15 Whole Years
One of the bacon brothers, who did a plea bargain and turned on the gang before he was whacked, was sentenced yesterday… I’m happy it went so fast, but I’m sure the families of the killed aren’t.
In 15 years this scum could be back in the ‘hood, creating havoc once again. The upside is that he is probably a marked man from this point forward.
Killing 6 people should get you the chair.
The Star: Dennis Karbovanec, who last week entered a surprise guilty plea to three counts of second-degree murder in the shooting deaths of six men, will be eligible for parole in 15 years.
The so-called “Surrey Six” – six victims, including two innocent bystanders – were found shot to death in a 15th-floor condo in suburban Surrey, BC., on Oct. 19, 2007 in one of the most brutal gangland slayings in Metro Vancouver.
The innocent bystanders were Chris Mohan, who lived across the hallway from the apartment where the murders occurred, and gas fireplace technician Ed Shellenberg. Under a plea agreement between the Crown and his lawyer, Karbovanec, 27, was sentenced to life in prison but will be eligible to apply for parole in 15 years.
One of the men charged with first-degree murder last week, Jamie Bacon, 23 was out on bail at the time of his arrest, as was Karbovanec before he pleaded guilty.
Both men were members of the Red Scorpions gang, as are Cody Rae Haevischer and Mathew James Johnston, both 24, who are facing six counts each of first-degree murder.
In court yesterday, Dohm said it’s not for him to say whether there is a crisis in the community over confidence in the court system.
“It is not particularly helpful on the part of individuals presumed to be in authority to be arousing the public that something is wrong in the system,” said Dohm.
Family and friends of the six men killed sobbed and wiped away tears as a statement of fact was read in court. Their victims’ impact statements, which Dohm placed under publication ban, were read out as Karbovanec sat with his head down.

It’s a legal system, not a justice system. Canadians don’t care about victims of crime.

lol on the pic. Bacon brothers reading the papers?
Sadly, as Phil sez, legal system not justice.

He got “one” (1) life sentance for killing 3 people so 2 of the cold blooded murders were “freebies”? time for an end to concurrent sentances.
cheers Bubba
