Bacon Stops The Mail In Abbotsford
H/T A “traumatized” postal worker is refusing to deliver mail to an Abbotsford, B.C., neighbourhood after being caught in the middle of a police takedown.
The woman, who was delivering mail during Jamie Bacon’s arrest in April by a heavily armed police team, said she’s too afraid to work in the area where the family of the Red Scorpion gangsters live.
Meanwhile, neighbours are outraged they’re no longer receiving mail.
The union representing postal workers confirmed Tuesday that its members refuse to work near the Bacon brothers’ home, about 70 kilometres southeast of Vancouver.
Neighbour Chris Saunders said he was not notified about the union’s policy until he flagged down a Canada Post truck on Monday to ask why his mail delivery has been so irregular.
“Last week, we only got delivery on Friday and, literally, the mailbox was full,” Saunders said. “The mail is piling up and we are just getting it very sporadically.”
Saunders said neighbours have had to deal with constant police surveillance since the public warning issued last year that Jamie and his brothers Jonathan and Jarrod had been targeted for death by a rival gang.
Jonathan now lives in the Vancouver-area city of Port Moody. Jamie is still in police custody after his arrest two months ago for the October 2007 slayings of six people in Surrey, B.C. But Jarrod lives with his mother and father in the family home while out on bail on a series of gun charges.
Ken Mooney, of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, said officials are still investigating whether the postal worker is at risk.
Until then, she is refusing to work, Mooney said.
Why the Bacon’s are still on the street amazes me… and protected by our finest too.
And another interesting tidbit interesting: The police will determine when the father of a trio of gangster brothers is allowed to return to his job with the Abbotsford School District, a spokesman said.
Sure glad we didn’t move to Abbotsford.

This piece of news makes me glad I don’t live in Vancouver. I live in Montreal and even at the height of the gang wars between the Hell’s Angels and their rivals we didn’t have to put up with what the Bacon family’s neighbours live with.

Well, I guess in the era of human rights, the mail may go through, but must not necessarily go through. I am so proud of our new brave? mail carriers. Enjoy your stress leave.
