CNN gets exposed, along with the media in general for carrying the left’s water.
Taking the media to task, finally. Newt Gingrich says it all:
“I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office. And I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that.”
July 29th: Apple: $75.876 Billion. U.S. Government: $73.768 Billion. Apple was on the verge of doom 15 years ago. it will take 15 years for the US government to recover from the Obama reign…
July 30th: Microsoft’s Bill Gates’ $56 billion personal worth is currently greater than the amount of cash in the U.S. Treasury.
July 31st: Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett, $45 billion net worth passes the US government.
August 1st: Oracle’s CEO Larry Ellison $27 billion outdoes the US.
August 2nd: I may join the club… along with everyone else. Thanks Obama.
President George Bush: Earlier this evening, President Obama called to inform me that American forces killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al Qaeda network that attacked America on September 11, 2001. I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude. This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.
CNN and other news agencies reported that the US is in possession of the body and that identification has been absolutely confirmed. No details of bin Laden’s death have been yet released.
The operation that killed the al-Qaida leader in a mansion outside of Islamabad was apparently the culmination of weeks of intelligence gathering and no less that five top secret national security meetings between Obama and his war cabinet.
US military and diplomatic installations are on a state of heightened alert and members of the Obama administration and the President have been alerting members of Congress and foreign leaders all night long.
Bin Laden was apparently killed in a “human operation” that was based on actionable intelligence in a mansion outside of Islamabad, Pakistan, according to CNN. He was killed in a highly secure compound, built in 2005, that was a virtual fortress of 15-foot-high walls and barbed wire.
The entire operation lasted just 40 minutes and was conducted by an elite team of US Navy SEALS, CIA officers, and other special military commandos. Pakistani intelligence officials apparently were key to the success of the mission, initial reports suggested.
Cars and trucks on Arizona Highway 260 in East Central Arizona are driving by a billboard advertisement that recently went up, bearing President Obama’s face on what appears to be a mock U.S.One-Hundred Trillion Dollar bill.
The billboard’s caption: “But Who Will Pay the Piper?”
(Unfortunately, the answer is – no one can.)
Chuck Perrine of Jones Outdoor advertising in Tucson, Ariz., confirmed to CNSNews.com that his company created the 10 ft- by-40 ft. billboard, which he said “went up within the last month.”
America’s new standing in the world after 1 1/2 years of Obama:
“The Obama administration has managed to convince most countries around the world that we are worth little as friends and even less as enemies.”
What do the following have in common: the piling on Israel after the botched interception of the Hamas relief flotilla, the Chinese military telling the U.S. secretary of defense that he was not welcome in Beijing, and the declaration by Nick Clegg—now deputy prime minister of Great Britain—that his country’s special relationship with America is over?
The National Post put out a graphic on ‘Just how corrupt is the United States?”, and the top three states all seem to have something in common.
States that are left wing win the contest by a wide margin. (click image to enlarge)
America may not be the most corrupt nation in the world, but on the Corruption Perception Index issued by an organization called Transparency International, the U.S. scored 19th from the top in 2009, barely trailing Britain and Japan, and just ahead of Barbados. (Canada is tied for eighth most honest with Iceland and Australia.)
If Texas could clean up its act, it would be a clean sweep of corruption for the left.
A great video to kick off the final few months of Obama’s power… with the first half of his term a complete disaster, videos like will go a long way towards the Dems losing congress.
Hopefully, November means the end to the US shift to socialism… let’s hope he hasn’t done permanent damage to the USA and the world.
Time Magazine likened the theme to violence and Fawkes, and was forced to recant:
UPDATE: I notice quite a bit of electronic dust this post has stirred up on the interwebbing. A couple points: First, as I suggest in the post, the tale of Fawkes has been so thoroughly appropriated by so many that it is just not right to associate the latest appropriators with the intent of the original criminal in 1605. The RGA is not calling for a violent uprising here. It is tapping into well-established online anti-government memes. (Remember 1984.) The Wachowski brothers, who were themselves referencing a comic book adaptation of the Fawkes story, were not calling for violence when they made their movie. Ron Paul supporters were not calling for violence when they decided to raise $4 million in 2007. To suggest that this is what the RGA is doing now is, it seems to me, overly simplistic and inflammatory. Second, there has been some speculation in the comments that the RGA fed me the Fawkes reference. They did not. But the connection is not exactly a stretch for anyone who has closely followed Republican politics online (and yes, here I am counting Paul as a Republican). Aside from the Remember November refrain, the classical music, the near-apocalyptic crises messages, the suggestions of totalitarian intent, the imagery of Castro and marching soldiers, the sound of a ticking clock all points to a well established online narrative, where Fawkes thrives as a sort of folk hero for all ideologies. These sorts of videos are made to go viral. They are intended to be edgy, provocative. They are meant to tap into running passions, online story lines. This one is very successful at accomplishing its viral mission.
