David Suzuki Fail

BC-STV soundly defeated in electoral reform referendum

Me… I think most thought they were voting for STD. And with David Suzuki on the yes side, color me suspicious. He was deciding factor in my no vote.

This hasn’t managed to pass anywhere in Canada, so if Vancouver can’t get it done, it’s time to banish this idea from future elections.

I really believe that people are really afraid that that STV would allow the third parties (NDP in most cases), and everything below them, onto government benches.

I’m still not sure if this was a good thing or bad… the people have spoken.

The idea of democracy is to represent the majority of it’s citizens which enables government to move forward with governing in a stable fashion.you can’t please everyone ever, but democracy ensures you please the majority or your gone. It’s fair.
STV would be to represent everyone and no-one while creating short term ineffectual government, it is anti-democratic and fully bureaucratic in nature, a purely socialist scam to steal more from the productive and distribute it to the non-productive parts of society which can be counted on to vote for any free lunch on my dollar. Who would we get? who would they supposedly represent? it’s not fair only costly and harmful.

If David Suzuki is for STV (looks suspiciously like STD), I would be against it just on principle. One person, one vote – monogamous relationship with one party.

Yeesss indeed if weird beard kooky is for it I am agin it!I think S T V is an acronym for “screw the voter” I think the best example is Lizzy Mae being graciously allowed a seat at the debate and using it to showcase her shrieking childish behavior towards any one who did not agree with her fantasy about globull-warming.
    Cheers Bubba

I think you were against STV all along. You just needed an excuse to oppose it. David Suzuk was that excuse for you.

First past the post has been around for hundreds of years and has worked extremely well. There is ZERO reason to change this system and not 1 STV yes man has ever come up with a good reason why this is necessary. The pro STV minority can go and form their own country. I must warn you STV proponents though that you’ll probably have to do it violently. The bumper sticker thing doesn’t really work as we’ve seen with Tibet.
