How $700 Billion Becomes $800 Billion

A long-stalled tax bill offering incentives for the use of renewable energy and providing tax breaks to millions of families and businesses was strapped onto emergency legislation to shore up the nation’s financial system.
The Senate version of the bailout package was amended, at the last minute, to include a wide range of tax breaks, as well as financial aid for certain rural schools and a measure requiring health insurance companies to provide more generous coverage to many people with mental illnesses.
With the new provisions, the legislation has become more palatable
The latest version of the tax legislation, virtually identical to that passed overwhelmingly by the Senate on Sept. 23, would extend the business tax credit for research and development, expand the child tax credit and protect millions of middle-income families from the alternative minimum tax, originally aimed at high-income families.
It would also provide tax relief to victims of recent natural disasters, including floods, tornadoes and severe storms.
The tax credits for investing in solar energy and producing wind energy are scheduled to expire at the end of this year.
How the hell does this get included into an emergency bill?
It’s a taste of how the Democrats love to pack bills with pork, and despite Obama’s cries for change, continue to do so.
If an emergency, such as this crisis which is supposed to flatten the economy, needs this kind of pork, it’s hard to believe it really is as dire as we’ve been told.
Or, they just can’t help themselves.
Read into the bill and you’ll even find something there for sheep farmers.

Stories like this only serve to remind me why I believe ALL politicians are deceitful, low-life, self-serving thugs. Maybe the anarchists have it right after all.

My favourite part of the Bill that was passed was the tax breaks for the production of Wooden Arrows designed for use by children. PHEW!!! That ought to save America. That came second only to the tax breaks included for wool research. I really was worried about the sheep in all of this.
