I see Gilles Duceppe as an extortionist, paid for by the Canadian taxpayer. There is no altruism in anything he does with regards to 'the rest of Canada'. His 'ideas' work in a bubble, unaffected by concern for other provinces, the schemes funded by the Canadian taxpayer.

Elizabeth May has no members of Parliament, and yet deems it acceptable to talk over and wag her finger at Stephen Harper all debate long.

If you believe she is the voice of sanity, you my friend are in need of psychiatric help.

Oh my god – it’s just one election. If the September vote were repeated today – Even with Dion – we’d likely have a Liberal minority. With or without Quebec. Think about it – the issue is moving to “whether the PMO’s tactics are sane” at this point.

skuleman - how juvenile - “I can’t have my way this time so I’ll form my own country”!!!! You have no idea what the Quebec separatists are talking about. And Alberta Girl – you’re refusing to look at someone else’s opinion and calling them an idiot?

Look at current situation and how it was created. We have a PM who was unwilling to take a balanced view of the opinions of Canadians. The tories will NEVER win until that attitude changes. Grow up.

There's an interesting scenario here. hanks to the Clarity Act we now have a definition of what is required to separate. If the 4 western provinces (and perhaps the Territories) elected to separate over this it could create a very interesting problem for Ontario.

Join the new western country as the have-not province in that alliance, or stay with the eastern provinces as Quebec's kicking boy, and the meal-ticket for Quebec, NB & PEI.

Certainly the smart move for Ontario would be to join the western country.

That would then leave the Eastern country with a francophone majority, and of course that would mean all the maritimers would get forced to adopt Quebec's language laws :-)

" the Green leader shamed everyone else at the debates by simply being sane."

And with that statement your whole comment is found to be ludicrous and downright silly.

You are an idiot.

The Bloc adds an important voice to our political Universe. It is nice to have a party leader who can afford not to bullshit us. Ducceppe's never going to be PM and he knows it; he can afford to act like a reasonable adult instead of a pandering worm. He and the Green leader shamed everyone else at the debates by simply being sane.

The Bloc's policies are usually very sound. Quebec does a lot right and the Bloc often tries to export good ideas. They have a more independent, less federally-minded view that allows them to approach problems from angles that might not be getting traction elsewhere. When the feds were dragging their feet over environmental issues, Quebec and Ontario got together and made the feds irrelevant. Or take child care; we get $100 a month. They get... child care!!! What a concept.

I would vote for the Bloc if they ran in my riding. They are outrageous, but no less so than any other party. They just have the guts to admit it. I like it when the label matches the contents. (For counter-example, see the "Conservative" party.)
