She had surgery in August, some radiation, and died 16 months later. The last two months of her life she was completely bedridden and pretty fuzzy about everything. The last two or three weeks she was barely there. I have a hard time believing that The Swimmer could have penned a coherent letter (or any sort of letter) one week before his death.
