No Ed, We All Despise The Bloc.

December 3rd, 2008 Posted in Canada Election

Ed is back!

In an interview with CBC News in Toronto, a furious Broadbent offered harsh words for the prime minister, saying Harper was also trying to pit English Canada against Quebecers in his attempt to discredit the proposed coalition to replace him if the Conservative minority government falls.

Ed, you should be furious at Layton for getting into bed with a party that not only wants to get out of Canada, but also stands against all things you have fought for.

I know, it’s the only chance the NDP will ever have to sit in power, albeit for only a short time… but is it worth selling your party’s soul? Worth joining up with your long-time arch rivals?

Last, Harper’s fury was directed at the Bloc Quebecois, not at Quebec – even you should be able to see the difference.

P.S. Ed, What the hell are you doing getting involved in this mess anyway?

    I have a question:

In today’s Question Period, numerous members of this supposed coalition made the accusation that the Alliance tried to make the same coalition (with the Bloc specifically) in 2000.

From what I remember, it was ‘proposed’ but never fully thought through or enacted, correct?

  2. Rob C Says:

I am a conservative at heart I am also old enough to remember when I had a grudging respect for Ed Broadbent for being a true statesman. It bothers me that I could have been fooled for so many years. He has shown that he is no different than any other radical leftie. And Ed go home fumble around in the glory days of your mind and stay out of it.

  3. Blair Says:

In 2000 Chretian had 170 or so seats – it’s called a majority.
This is a Liberal myth. Coming soon on Snopes.

  4. machiavelli Says:

Why are the traitorous Liberals enthusiastically giving a veto and a billion dollars to the traitorous, separatist who want to weaken the country to the excitement of the Jacque Persuade? These same power hungry Liberals are consenting to the excessive demands of the extreme left-wing separatist and the Marxist Moronic socialist parties, and thereby invalidating the results of the recent, legitimate, democratic election?

The power craving, treacherous Liberals are attacking Canada, and democracy, by giving the extremists in the separatists and Marxists moronic socialist parties a veto pursuant to our exceedingly vulnerable economy? The integrity challenged Liberals are enthusiastically preparing to annihilate the Canadian economy with a job-killing, major, structural deficit which our children will be paying for many future decades? This massive superfluous overspending will result in higher taxes for all Canadians, and could ultimately conclude in the Canadians economy mirroring the Cuban and/or North Korean economies; this, after all, is what the NDP morons and socialist separatist would deem a superlative circumstance.

If the Liberals actually are power hungry enough to believe that their wacko coalition of left-wing Marxists and traitorous, separatists morons is acceptable to the people, they must take that proposition to the Canadian electorate.

  5. Eric Grenier Says:

Can one of you explain to me why Stephen Harper is saying the Liberals have signed over a veto to the separatist Bloc Quebecois while Lawrence Cannon is saying the Bloc Quebecois has signed over their veto to the Liberals?

    Seems sort of contradictory.

Oh, and if given, will the Conservatives take the votes of the separatists in their budget in January, the same way the Liberals-NDP are willing to do? Or will they reject it?

    Just wondering.

  6. tasso Says:

Uh… hate to have to support democracy but are we forgetting that every member of the BQ are duly elected members of the parliament of Canada?

The current conservative strategy is an embarrassment to Canadians and a disservice to the dignity of our country. Shame on anyone who says the BQ members do not have a legitimate voice.

  7. wilson Says:

”Can one of you explain to me why Stephen Harper is saying the Liberals have signed over a veto to the separatist Bloc Quebecois while Lawrence Cannon is saying the Bloc Quebecois has signed over their veto to the Liberals?”

Both are true because the coalition dies if Duceppe’s demands are not met and Dions demands are not met.

That illustrates the fragility of this coalition.
Now throw in the Dippers, this is the House that Jack built.
    Unless his demands are met….

Why do you think there is no actual stimulus package on the table?
They are still struggling for power internally.
The 3 are actually thinking that in the next election
    they will campaign separately.
So they MUST win as many battles in this coalition as possible.
This coalition will be more fun watching than the internal battles in the LPC.

They want to see the books before they give Cdns a stimulus package?
Are they saying they will cahnge their minds? I thought it’s $30B come hell or high water.
If seeing the books first is crucial, this whole coalition is a fraud, just like their 4 Wisemen was a fraud.

  8. wilson Says:

On Don Newman last night, the Indy MP Harvey said that this coalition will be the shame of Quebec.

Only 40% of Quebecers voted Bloc.
    The 60% that didn’t,voted federalist.

Show of hands how many bloggers think that those 60% of Quebecers, who voted federalist, will vote Liberal next time?

  9. Gerry from Toronto Says:

Ed “Lenin” Broadbent was on CBC’s (Communist Broadcasting Corporations) “The Current” this morning. He is claiming that he phoned up some people he knew after the economic statement which led to a call to Chretien which led to the negotiations between the Liberals & the NDP.

He also called PM Stephen Harper a liar on the radio — note outside the house :) He claims that Harper claimed there was no Canadian flags at the signing ceremony — seems he needs a hearing aid — Harper said there was no Canadian Flags behind the signers — if anybody ever saw any Liberal press conferences, there is always a wall of Canadian flags in a row, which was noticeably missing during this so-called historic occasion. They were off to the side and not visible from a front on view — optics.

Ed was taking credit for initiating the deal.

Maybe he should go back to his slumber and get new batteries for his hearing aid.

  10. Albertan Says:

Day lied about his attempt at an accord with BQ.

Harper lied about Canadian flags not being present at Coalition signing ceremony.

Harper lied about his attempt at a coalition with the BQ.

Harper recorded a opposition caucus meeting.

Harper uses a major economic crisis as a chance to crush opposition.

The question isn’t why does any one support the coalition. The question is why doesn’t everyone?

  11. Blair Says:

    Oh boy..

where do you dig this stuff up.

And you call yourself an Albertan??!

  12. Cicero Says:

    Hey Albertan.

The BLOC produce a paper that THEY apparently drafted eight years ago. It has no signatures. It was not authorized, or reviewed or approved or signed by Stockwell Day. In short, it is of no consequence. Compare that to the two quislings and the traitor(although Duceppe is the only honest one of ther bunch)signing away the control of the Canadian gov’t to a rump of Liberals from Toronto and Montreal with the puppet Dion propped up by the puppeteer Duceppe of the Bloc.

You call yourself an Albertan and you would agree to erasing the vote of Alberta for the benefit of the BLOC. What kind of fool are you?
