Remember Google… Don’t Be Evil

Google is stepping into territory that no Internet information gatherer should… by planning to make exceptional adjustments to its model to save a newspaper. This alignment is exceptional, and puts Google into the left-wing bailout game.

You’d think that Google wouldn’t align with a dead company – especially on that is  despised by anyone wanting unbiased news (this represents over 1/2 of America).

Silicon Valley Insider: Google  continues to hold talks with New York Times chairman Arthur Sulzberger, who visited Google’s Mountain View, Calif. headquarters last month

One source said they were exploring “one or two different models that people are curious about.”

A potential agreement in which any time Google’s search crawlers find a Web site carrying New York Times content and Google ads, Google would split the revenue it gets from those ads with the Times. Google would somehow help the New York Times actually embed ads within its text so that when blogs or other Web sites use that text, the ads go with it.

We have no idea how Google and the Times would do this. Neither does our source. A New York Times spokesperson told us: “We have been collaborating with Google for quite some time and we continue to discuss a number of potential projects with them.”

This sounds like search-engine welfare.

Left-wing media is dying fast – Air America, MSNBC and NBC are not going to be half the size they are now by years end. All the failed, and failing, media are far left. If the CBC wasn’t propped up by government, it would have failed a generation ago.

Instead of looking for hand-outs they should be looking at their market. And their product.

The message here is never to carry New York Times content online – and never to click an ad that is within New York Times content.

Let’s hope Google comes to its senses before it becomes one of the casualties of left-wing media collapse. If they don’t, let’s hope people learn how to switch search engines in their web browser…
