Stimulate This Ignatieff!

January 28th, 2009 Posted in Canada Election

The Liberal party will only support the minority Conservative government’s federal budget if Prime Minister Stephen Harper agrees to an amendment calling for a “clear marker” of regular updates to Parliament on the impact of economic stimulus projects, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff said Wednesday.

Stuff it Iggy… quit playing games with our future. A firestorm is on the horizon and Iggy is deciding whether or not we’ll get water.

It’s a play to get a non-confidence vote every three months, and Canadians should see this as another cynical liberal game.

Harper needs show some backbone on this.

Prime Minister Harper – do the right thing and cut personal taxes and EI employer contributions now. You’ll succeed with the stimulus by March 1st. Plus, you’ll have the worlds best stimulus plan and Canada may avoid the world of hurt that’s on the way.

Public work projects, for the sake of stimulus, are a ridiculous waste and won’t change a thing. They force cities and provinces to take on debt, just to get a road paved to nowhere. $30 billion in debt becomes $90 Billion fast this way. I can live with potholes for a couple of years.

Am I missing something here?

    Note to Iggy,
you can have a confidence vote, when the Harper government assigns you an ‘opposition day’, and not a day sooner or a day later, not on March 26th if PMSH thinks not.
See twitIggy, you are in opposition and have no power to call a report a matter of confidence, twit.

Probation? Who’s on probation, Iggy’s on probation, until May when his party decides if this one will last any longer than the last two Lib leaders.

Dippers are counting, this budget passing is #45 for Liberals propping up the Harper government.

Do you think that it would be responsible for PM Harper to shovel billions in the economy as a stimulus and then put no performance measures in place? Do you think Harper will have no clue for a year about whether the economy is improving? Of course not. That would be wholly irresponsible. We know Harper would never do such a foolish act. So when Iggy asks for the perfomance data he is really just asking Harper to make internal information available to the public. If you seriously think there is something wrong with then you must be an Alberta Tory.
