Surprise – The Cars We Really Want
You keep hearing that automakers aren’t making the cars we want – and that if they start making a fuel efficient vehicle, or better yet, an electronic vehicle, it will save the day.
Looking at the top 10 vehicles sold last month brings a big surprise.
The Honda Civic, that tiny fuel miser, rates spot #5 in sales.
The winner is:
Ford F-Series Truck – 37,911 sold
Part of the reason the Ford truck is #1 in sales may be that gas has dropped just a little bit.
But, the imports are kicking the domestic’s butt in overall sales… this may be because they focus their attention on a small product line.
The more lines of vehicles you make, the higher the cost.
The domestic automakers don’t necessarily need to make econo-boxes again like they did in the late 70’s.
They need to drop all the makes that are not selling, and make more of what is.
The reality is that most people don’t want to own a vehicle that they need to use a shoe horn to get themselves seated.
They want space, comfort and gas mileage – in that order.
If the Big Three start making what the politicians are demanding, they are doomed.
If they start making what the market wants, they just might survive.

$6 billion, (US getting $15-17B)
is ‘buyout’ feasible instead of ‘bailout’?
What is the assesed value of the auto factories?
Why doesn’t Canada have their own auto indutry?

The CAW members can now back their rants about Quality and designs by using THEIR money to buy into these Auto makers.
Oh wait….Oakville and Oshawa Plants have Japanese cars in the parking lots for CAW members , they want to shop at WAL-Mart to buy TV’s and Clothes made in China and Mexico which increases their Buying-Power as if it was a massive pay-raise.
How the hell can Buzz Hardgrove (and CAW members)have the nerve to fill his/their Homes with Imported product built from slave-labour , and then tell us Canadian’s to fill our Garages with “Buy-canadian” Cars made by those exact CAW members .
Remember when Tourism was hurting and Politicians asked us to “Vacation in canada” ? , then we saw those Exact Politicians fly to Florida/Cuba/Caymens/Mexico/France and all those other nations with OUR tax dollars.
Enough already…..the good-times are over and nobody is immune to the Global melt-down , this includes those in the Auto Industry that build Pollution causing dinosaurs while feeling an “Entitlement” to be exempt from the Global warming crisis and Obesity issue as the cars slowly became attached to Humans for longer periods of time during the day.
I dare you CAW….I double-dare you,take over GM and FORD with YOUR money and then set YOUR salaries and benefits while having a Profit-Sharing Plan during the Good-Times so you don’t have to shut down the Plants with a strike.
Show us canadians that you really do believe the CAW rants that your Leaders spew to you every time a Contract comes up for renewal.
This way , when the carp hits the fan you can go to the CAW heads and fellow workers and point the finger at them and not US who you expect to bail you out .
