Suspension Of Disbelief

December 4th, 2008 Posted in Canada Election

Mr Blirt

Now we have a cooling off period, The coalition has lost the one thing they had doing for it… The suspension of disbelief.

For those not familiar with the phrase:

The temporary acceptance as believable of events or characters that would ordinarily be seen as incredible. This is usually to allow an audience to appreciate works of literature or drama that are exploring unusual ideas.

The premise that Liberals could get along with separatists, or that Jack Layton would get along with anyone not union related, is absurd.

The Liberals can’t even get along with themselves. Need proof? Here’s the latest google search.

Or, visit the blogging Libtards; my favorite article:

Two polls, both provide disastrous numbers for the coalition. The key word is volatile, but you have to acknowledge what these polls are telling us, because it is crystal clear. There is no real need for analysis or a critical eye.
Ipsos :

Cons 46%
Libs 23%
NDP 13%

Many other findings, all of which are equally bad, there is no silver lining.

EKOS :

Cons 44%
Libs 24%
NDP 14%

Of note, according to this pollster, just last week the numbers were MUCH closer, which again speaks to the coalition losing the frame. Again, the pdf brings m…

So, within a week this coalition is already DOA.

Now Harper needs to be saavy and pull as may across the floor as he can.

The MPs have already lost their “suspension of disbelief”.

I think all the Liberals and NDP are going to wake up and find nothing but a lump of coal in their stockings for Christmas. It would be nice to see the Bloc find the same, but that is yet to be seen. They seem to be able to weather just about anything.

Look at the massive 22 point jump for the Tories in Ontario.

It is astounding to me the Liberals could not see this coming. It is hard to know which blunder was bigger, Dion as leader or this fiasco. Regardless, the Liberal brand is severely damaged.

  3. Gerry from Toronto Says:

Bob Fife of CTV while waiting for PM Stephen Harper to emerge from the GG’s residence mentioned on CTV Newsnet that it almost came to blows at a Pub (in Ottawa) frequented by Liberals & NDP on Wednesday night. It seems the NDP types were upset about the screw ups on the Dion Video.

It was mentioned that the two sides hate each other more than they hate Harper.

    One big happy family. :)
