Job Offers Roll In For Dion

October 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Canada Election

When Stephane Dion resigns Monday, he should consider the invitation of crossing over to the Green Party with his Green Shaft. They’ll welcome him with open arms.

When 9/11 Truthers Attack

I just about peed my pants… Stephane Dion’s logic escapes me and common sense.

He uses the Jewish congress as a defense to a Liberal candidate’s anti-semitic views and 9/11.

The Liberal party at its worst. And he lost this one again - got rid of the candidate.

Dion....

Watching Stephane Dion on the news today… couldn’t believe his logic.

He blames Harper for the debt problem because he cut the GST. “For people to get benefit of this cut, they needed to spend, and now we have this mess.”

So cutting the GST caused people to overspend… unbelievable.

And all along I thought I was saving money.

More gems..

Speaking to the Georgia Strait:

“Like today when he insulted the artists and when he said that he wants to put the 14-year-old kids in jail for the rest of their lives….And then to increase the number of our people in jail in Canada by 5,000 people and he has not a penny to pay for it. That means that our jails will be more crowded than ever. And when these people will get out of jail, they will be more brutal than ever. The rate of recidivism will go up, and we will not be safer. We know that because it is what happened in some states….And he wants to import it because he is a dangerous ideologue.”

From the Vancouver Sun:

When 1,400 British Columbians were asked to include Obama and John McCain among their possible choices for prime minister, 42 per cent of them chose Obama, well ahead of Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who attracted support from 29 per cent of those polled.

Placing third was New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton with 12 per cent.

At the bottom of the heap were Liberal leader Stephane Dion, Green Party leader Elizabeth May and U.S. Republican leader John McCain, with seven, six and five per cent support respectively.

When British Columbians were asked who they would chose as president of the U.S. if they were able to vote, 80 per cent chose Obama, while 20 per cent chose McCain.

Pity poor Stephane Dion; it appears he has as much chance of winning B.C.’s support in his quest to become prime minister as the Vancouver Canucks do of winning the Stanley Cup.

Not only did Dion attract only seven per cent of those polled as a potential prime minister, only one per cent found he was best described as charismatic and only two per cent said he could be best described as inspiring.

Kyle Braid, vice-president public affairs for Ipsos Reid, said the results were fascinating.

“B.C. has got a bit of a case of the Obama envy,” he said. “It’s really pretty incredible, the degree to which a leader from another country has set himself apart from other politicians.

“The numbers also show that Dion has managed to do that as well, but in his case it’s completely in the wrong direction.”

Amazing… especially the part about the Canucks.

Is Stephane Dion A Deadbeat?

The latest:

Stéphane Dion misses new debt payment deadline — again

For the second time, Stéphane Dion has failed to comply with an Elections Canada deadline to pay back his six-figure campaign debt remaining from his 2006 Liberal leadership campaign. Stéphane Dion has violated his agent’s written promise to creditors to pay back approximately $230,000 by September 3, 2008 -  almost ten days ago.

“Stéphane Dion was supposed to pay off all his campaign debts on June 3, 2008,” noted Pierre Poilievre, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Nepean-Carleton. “He failed and got a generous extension, under which he promised to pay off 1/3 of his debts by September 3, 2008. His agent even signed a written promise to the creditors to do so. But yesterday we learned that Dion failed – again. He has missed another deadline and this time he has broken a written commitment to his creditors.”

“If Stéphane Dion can’t keep his own written financial promises, why should Canadians trust him to manage Canada’s finances?” asked Poilievre.

“Stéphane Dion has mismanaged his own campaign finances. Canadians can’t afford a weak and risky Dion, in a time of global economic uncertainty.”

Nor can they afford his wacky plans.

Let’s see if Dion leads the Liberals to numbers below the NDP for the first time.

Pay up Steve.

Psst… Wanna Buy Some Carbon Offsets

Had a good chuckle over Stephane Dion’s buying of carbon offsets to cover his use of fuel to campaign. Better idea - skip the travel - it probably is hopeless at this point. You’re moving into Layton territory.

The buying of the offsets beg the question.

Where the hell does the money go when you buy an offset?

Nobody seems to know for sure. Which makes me just a bit suspicious. Is this really a way to dupe the naive into paying taxes for feeling good? Or is this a UN plan to create a world tax?

Just who are these “sellers” of credits and what do they do with the money?

The entrepreneurs redistribute the money mainly to projects such as wind farms, biodeisel plants, dairy farm methane projects, and reforestation projects. Some of these companies claim to be audited and verified by various authorities and non-profit organizations to assure transparency and accountability.

None are probably anywhere close to being cost efficient, which in itself defeats the purpose.

Just try to find any financial information, or shareholder lists of these organizations and companies. Most are for profit companies.

One good example of this charade - the Academy Awards gave every presenter and performer a year of carbon neutral living - a glass sculpture  and 100,000 lbs. of CO2 reductions from TerraPass.

Terrapass seems like an Amazon of Carbon offsets - very suspicious.

This “award” allows recipients to justify their carbon use and appear to be doing something good. It’s great advertising for both for the carbon credit salesmen and the celebrity promoters.

Someone’s getting very wealthy off this dubious cause. And I’d really like to find a way into this game to get my share.

P.S. Got a real kick out of ths site on Dione’s Tax plan… great design work.

Stephane Dion Drops 50%

low in the water ( very!)

Early election polls show Stephen Harper should get 183 seats in the 308-seat parliament, up from 127 seats won in the last election.

42% of voters feel Harper would make a better prime minister, while only 15% felt Dion would do a good job, well behind even Jack Layton of the New Democrats.

Stephane Dion calls Harper’s government “the most conservative government in our history”… he’s trying out the “I Hate Bush” strategy (one that will cost the Democrats the election in the US).

Harper has lowered taxes, lengthened mandatory criminal sentences and actually allocated money for family child care (something the left has been crying for for as long as I can remember). Considering that he has managed to fulfill the promises he made last election despite a hostile parliament… not a bad job.

Thanks to Stephane Dion’s attempt to make himself into Al Gore of the north, it should be a cake walk.

Stephane’s carbon tax plans makes you wonder who he is reaching out to. Even NDP Layton starting the week of campaigning attacking the oil sands - probably one of Canada’s biggest sources of future wealth. Real smart stuff.

The “silent majority” will decide this election - we’ve had enough of the Liberal and NDP strategy of environmental/carbon tax terrorism through taxation.

And just in time.

We’re facing a challenging economy is the very near future - hopefully Harper will promise even lower taxes to help us through it.

Will The West Matter? Canada’s Election

Now that the election has been called, will we even matter in the west?

There isn’t much to vote for unless you’re French or a lifetime NDPer.

Ontario and Quebec hold the decision, as usual, and hopefully Harper will get traction in Ontario.

The choice seems obvious when you look at the candidates:

NDP - Jack Layton leads a hopeless party - but somehow they keep hanging in there. The NDP plays the role of spoiler, and will probably split the Liberal votes.

Liberals - Stephane Dion has lost it already with his promise to tax the bejesus out of us with that lovely carbon tax scheme. The party is where the conservtives were - and needs to re-invent itself.

Conservatives - Harper should be a shoe-in, but the separatists in Quebec will split the vote. Like Vancouver, the French will always vote in a way to cause themselves the most grief.

We need a majority government that can take on the challenges we will be facing soon - with a declining economy and soon-to-be crashing housing market, Canada can’t play around with higher taxes and incompetent leadership.

Holding an election in concert with the US is a smart plan - hopefully Canadians will see we both share the same issues.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper seemed almost certain to call a general election next week to decide who will guide Canada.

It’s a great idea.

Although the election and candidates will be about as exciting as watching lawn bowling, holding an election alongside of the US election would let Canadians in on the fun.

We might be able to get rid of Gilles Duceppe, leader of the separatist opposition Bloc Quebecois. I always wonder what would happen if a traitor ran in the US…

Jack Layton, leader of the leftist New Democratic Party, also needs to go. With no possible chance of ever getting elected, it’s a wonder how the NDP has survived all these years. Note that the Riders have only won a Grey Cup when Conservatives have been in power in Sask.

Liberal leader Stephane Dion has proposed a tax grab similar to the National Energy Program they blessed us with in the last economic collapse. This is good for at least 10% more votes for Harper.

It’s time for change - as Barack Hussein Obama would say.

Best of all, it’s time to trounce the Liberals before their wacky carbon tax plan can see the light of day.

Here’s a video for more information on how the election will be decided:
