The Smart Car- I’d Really Like To Know
August 22nd, 2008 Posted in Tech Goodies
In this video, he asks some of the questions I’d like to know.
Do Smart Car owners enjoy owning the car?
Is it really worth $20,000 plus? Golf carts are running around 5K.
Is it true you get mild whiplash when changing gears?
Do the gas savings justify the loss of space and comfort?
Wouldn’t you rather have a motorcycle? If mileage is your goal…
Thanks in advance for letting me know.

Q Do Smart Car owners enjoy owning the car?
A Yes. Just like Harley riders or Miata owners enjoy their vehicles.
QI s it really worth $20,000 plus? Golf carts are running around 5K.
A Yes. It is cheap at that price. Your golf cart reference is stupid.
Q Is it true you get mild whiplash when changing gears?
A. I got whiplash driving my MGB. Until I learned how to change gears. That was when I was 15 years old. How old are you?
Q Do the gas savings justify the loss of space and comfort?
A. What loss? It’s the most comfortable car I ever rode in. The MGB and Miata both had less space.
Q Wouldn’t you rather have a motorcycle?
A I’d hate to get hit by a semi! The smart has a 5-Star crash test rating. Does your Hyundai?

Q:Do Smart Car owners enjoy owning the car?
A: Oh heck ya. Funnest car I’ve ever owned! It’s so much fun to drive. Like a go-Kart souped up and made luxurious, but way more space. Excellent handling and zippy driving.
Q:Is it really worth $20,000 plus? Golf carts are running around 5K.
Definitely. Heated leather bucket seats, air conditioning, ipod compatible stereo, manumatic sequential transmission, turbo boost diesel engine, Lovely shiny paint and full glass coverage plus skyview roof. Golf carts? Nope. I drove that crazy little car for a full two weeks cross country and never got fatigued.
Q:Is it true you get mild whiplash when changing gears?
Nope, but poor drivers and newbies do find it’s kind of jerky till they learn the skill.
Q:Do the gas savings justify the loss of space and comfort?
It’s got a loss of space over my old VW rabbit hatchback but I had more than I needed. I can still get a month’s supply of groceries in it, or a patio set from the hardware store, or my bike, or enough gear plus 2 people and a dog, or all my painting equipment and supplies including ladders, into it. As to comfort, it’s the MOST comfortable vehicle I’ve ever driven and definitely the comfiest in it’s price class.
Q:Wouldn’t you rather have a motorcycle?
I do have one. Two in fact, (one for hubby) plus we have a moped and five bicycles and a 3/4 ton truck for hubby’s flooring job. The nice thing is being able to choose what to drive when I want.
