This Too Will Pass.
Canadian Idol Cancelled for 2009
The official word on Canadian Idol is in and you will not be seeing it in 2009.
After months of speculation and an increased spotlight on So You Think You Can Dance Canada, a CTV statement issued late Tuesday evening said that “as a result of the current economic climate, production of Canadian Idol will rest for the 2009 year.”
The news comes on the heels of fans of the show wondering when audition dates and locations would be announced
Idol fans will still get their fix as American Idol premieres on January 13.
I have wondered why Canadian TV needs to license these types of shows and copy the exact format with crappy judges – watch the real thing if you really need to.

at first i was overjoyed. then i was less overjoyed to learn that this was partly because the spotlight was taken by So You Think You Can Dance Canada.
worth noting is that Canadian Idol judges were even crappier than their American Idol counterparts.

Thank God! No more Ben Mulroney. Now if only we could do something about Justin the Younger.

I am sad. I like both Canadian and American Idol. Usually end up watching both series. Love the talent. Oh well, I will just have to watch Simon, Paula and Randy this year. Always fun to watch new talent get a big break.

Why doesn’t CTV stop the incessant liberalism and maybe ratings will pick-up?

Now maybe Ben has time to run for the Conservatives!

I agree with Cool Blue, Ben could run is his father’s Baie Comaux seat in Manicouigan.
