Could Obama Scandals Top The Clintons?

With the Blagojevich scandal starting to seriously threatening Obama, the next scandal in the line-up will feature Antoin “Tony” Rezko.

Tony’s been talking to investigators in an attempt to reduce a prison sentence following his conviction for fraud and bribery. His sentencing was originally scheduled before the election, but somehow it was delayed.

Rezko, a member of his campaign finance committee, held a lavish fund-raiser In 2003, when Obama announced he was running for the U.S. Senate.

A few months after Obama became a U.S. senator, he and Rezko’s wife, Rita, bought adjacent pieces of property from a doctor in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood. The doctor sold the mansion to Obama for $1.65 million — $300,000 below the asking price. Rezko’s wife paid full price — $625,000 — for the adjacent vacant lot. The deals closed in June 2005.

Six months later, Obama got a $500K discount when he paid Rezko’s wife $104,500 for a strip of her land, so he could have a bigger yard. At the time, it had been widely reported that Tony Rezko was under federal investigation. Questioned later about the timing of the Rezko deal, Obama called it “boneheaded” because people might think the Rezkos had done him a favor.

Rezko knows more than anybody about the house purchase and other deals with Obama, and he’s talking.

Rezko also regularly supplied Blagojevich with a “clout list” of names of people he thought the governor should appoint to state boards and jobs.

And this week they just delayed his sentencing again – my guess is until after the inauguration.

The media that so obviously was in the tank for Obama during the election should have done America a favor by doing their job a little better.

There probably will be more, and Obama may be on track to beat the Clinton record on scandals…

In case your forgot, Clinton holds these records:

- The only president ever impeached on grounds of personal malfeasance
– Most number of convictions and guilty pleas by friends and associates
– Most number of cabinet officials to come under criminal investigation
– Most number of witnesses to flee country or refuse to testify
– Most number of witnesses to die suddenly
– First president sued for sexual harassment.
– Second president accused of rape
– First first lady to come under criminal investigation
– Largest criminal plea agreement in an illegal campaign contribution case
– First president to establish a legal defense fund.
– First president to be held in contempt of court
– Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions
– Greatest amount of illegal campaign contributions from abroad
– First president disbarred from the US Supreme Court and a state court

Can Obama top them? He may have two under his belt  before he even gets started…

It doesn’t matter what country. It doesn’t matter what the party name. It doesn’t matter what the political ideology. Scratch a politician and just below the surface you will find a festering sore of corruption, greed, and overweening ambition.

In case you didn’t know, Bush Jr. has beaten the Clintons by far in terms of scandals, so I wouldn’t worry about Obama. Then again, it’s quite typical of you to focus on America’s new democrat president-elect and suddenly forget the last 8 years.

I’m sorry, I meant real scandals… not “Bush Derangement” ones.
I also forgot to add the pardon scandal from Clinton…
