We Are Screwed – Rantings Of A Friend.

screwed

Received an email from a friend who lives in the US today… seems Obama has finally pushed him over the line:

“We’re fu*#d.

Permanently, I mean.

Until this morning, I thought we were temporarily fu*%ed, then the President made a few announcements this morning.

So far, all he’d done was order the closing of Gitmo (which is the action of a Swarthmore sophomore), delay by 120 days the trial of the Sheik of 9/11 (the action of a fool), steal another trillion dollars from Americans as yet unborn (the action of a what we now know as an intergenerational thief), and guarantee permanent democratic ascendancy by issuing income tax rebates to people who don’t pay income tax (the modern version of panem et circenses). Not to mention bringing back Federal funding for abortions.

This morning, he laid out the first steps of a plan that will dwarf anything done by FDR whose lunacy merely extended the Great Depression by 12 or 13 years.

We’re not going to survive Obama.

This morning, he conflated energy independence and alternate energy sources. Insane.

He squeezed two concepts together:

1) independence from oil from foreign sources and …

2) independence from oil. He knows they are not the same thing. He did not mention our own vast and accessible but politically untouchable oil resources. He did not mention oil refineries.

He did not mention his promise to shut down coal production (and, of course, all the energy, including about 50% of our electricity, that we get from coal.)

He did not mention nuclear electric plants.

He brought “climate change” into the energy “discussion” this morning.

He did not call it global warming. The alarmists don’t call it that any more, either, because they now understand that nothing we do, one way or the other, will impact the temperature of the earth by even one degree F over the next 100 years.

Nonetheless, Obama is going to saddle our auto producers with outlandish fuel economy and emission standards while those companies are struggling to stay in business. Those companies will die and soon.

Best of all, he is doing this by Presidential fiat, executive orders, unlikely to be countermanded, or even discussed, by the House or the Senate.

This is all after one week in the Oval Office. We have at least 208 more weeks to go (there’s a Leap Year in there somewhere).

We’re fu@%ed.

As it is not yet safe to criticize the Great Leader yet, my friend shall remain nameless…

Obama is like a sailboat to the American people. The two happiest days for a sailor are when he gets a new sailboat and when he gets rid of the same boat.

Not safe? Good grief. Paranoid much?

  3. dave Says:

I retain my trust in the American people but I agree that under Obama it will be a struggle to cope with the rise of socialism. It is not paranoid if it is true.

    Red Tory

I believe you know what “not safe” means -or haven’t you noticed that the “Obama Voter” doesn’t take criticism lightly, or quietly.

The Obama Voter believes money is on the way in their HopeNChange envelope.

Wouldn’t want to break their hearts with reality.

  5. The Intellectual Redneck Says:

The “Big Three” are under bankruptcy watch and begging for more bailout money. President Barack Obama thinks this is a good time to appease his environmental base by weighing Detroit down with a new round of environmental regulations. This is a horrible timing and it will severely damage the ability of the “Big Three” to return to profitability. The first increase in CAFE will take place by the 2011 model year. Detroit is now preparing to launch the 2010 model year in July. Read more here. The “Big Three” are sinking and Barack Obama fires a salvo of torpedoes

  6. Miles Says:

    > So far, all he’d done was order the closing of Gitmo

And this is bad how, exactly? There are already plenty of terrorists in prisons on American soil. Gitmo is a symbol of the excesses of the “War on Terror,” and closing is an excellent and relatively easy way to improve our political position.

    > delay by 120 days the trial of the Sheik of 9/11

Why is this so bad? I mean, the last Republican administration already waited ~7 years, another 120 days won’t change things—and might give them time to put together a better case.

    > steal another trillion dollars from Americans as yet unborn

If the economy continues to collapse we’ll be in a worse place. Now, you might disagree that this will cause the economy to rebound … but tax cuts haven’t been doing the trick. Deregulation hasn’t helped the economic situation. Monetary policy isn’t much of an option because our interest rates are already at nearly 0%.

    > and guarantee permanent democratic ascendancy by issuing income tax rebates to people who don’t pay income tax (the modern version of panem et circenses)

All governments redistribute wealth to some extent. All. The poorest people are the ones who need it most (and I say this as a member of the top 1% in the US). And it is pretty clear that the poorest Americans usually aren’t poor because they don’t work hard—the current economy puts an enormous strains on a huge portion of our population.

    > Not to mention bringing back Federal funding for abortions.

… by supporting a program created by Richard Nixon? This point is complete garbage. He is hardly doing that.

Bush didn’t do much. I can only hope that Obama will do better. And we are so absurdly far from being a Socialist state, I just have to laugh at those who say Obama is socialist. No industry has been nationalized. We have the lowest (paid) corporate tax rate in the world. We have nothing close to a national health care system. We pay a miniscule amount to educate our population. There is no CHANCE Obama could (or, in my opinion, would) implement all those changes in four terms, let alone two.

  7. Colin Says:

Bush didn’t do much? Holy cats! Two words: Iraq, Afghanistan. A few more words: no AQ followup to 9/11 in 7 years; the most money ever to Africa to fight malaria and AIDS – millions of lives saved. He wasn’t perfect; maybe the balance sheet is negative, but “Bush didn’t do much”? Nonsense.

I can only hope Obama … As Emily Dickinson wrote “Hope is the thing with feathers.”

… absurdly far from being a Socialist state? Hmmm. A slight edit here might help this make sense “… absurdly close to becoming a socialist state.”

Obama not a socialist? Read up on Saul Alinsky. Obama is an Alinsky follower. How many “community organizers” are not socialists?

No industry has been nationalized? Miles means other than the financial and automobile industries.

Lowest paid corporate tax rate in the world? This is not only not true, it is egregiously not true.

… nothing close to a national health care system? (Miles must mean other than Medicare and Medicaid (which is a state program but in all states.)) It is a blessing to not have a national health care system. That way the people have access to, um, you know, health care. Try moving to, say, Vancouver, and signing up a primary care doctor. Let us know how it works out. Try getting an MRI or CAT scan in Toronto, then drive down to Detroit or Buffalo and get one in half an hour.

… pay a miniscule amount to educate our population. That is true from one angle only: other than every other civilized country in the world, the US does spend the least on education.

… no chance he could all this in four terms, let alone two. He’s only been at it for a week for Christ’s sake and look what he’s done.
