What Would Dianne Francis Do?
The real inconvenient truth
Dianne Francis is married and has two children.. and she has a sister who also has 2 kids.
She’s been pushing for a 1 child policy for the past 5-6 years, and somehow got this article published on the Financial Post.
In great liberal style, it’s do as I say, not as I do.
“China has proven that birth restriction is smart policy,” said Francis. “Its middle class grows, all its citizens have housing, health care, education and food, and the one out of five human beings who live there are not overpopulating the planet.”
“The fix is simple. It’s dramatic. And yet the world’s leaders don’t even have this on their agenda in Copenhagen..
None will work unless a China one-child policy is imposed. Unfortunately, there are powerful opponents. Leaders of the world’s big fundamentalist religions preach in favor of procreation and fiercely oppose birth control. And most political leaders in emerging economies perpetuate a disastrous Catch-22: Many children (i. e. sons) stave off hardship in the absence of a social safety net or economic development, which, in turn, prevents protections or development.
China has proven that birth restriction is smart policy. Its middle class grows, all its citizens have housing, health care, education and food, and the one out of five human beings who live there are not overpopulating the planet.
For those who balk at the notion that governments should control family sizes, just wait until the growing human population turns twice as much pastureland into desert as is now the case, or when the Amazon is gone, the elephants disappear for good and wars erupt over water, scarce resources and spatial needs.”
According to the U.N. Population Database, the Earth’s population will only add another billion people or so over the next thirty years, peaking around 8.02 billion people in the year 2040, and then it will begin to decline.
Lies and hypocrisy… what else would you expect from Dianne.

So, what does she propose as a punishment for those who seek to breach this one-child policy?
Forced abortions at nine months? (It’s been done!)
Fines or imprisonment?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Some years back, during the course of a Campaign Life meeting, I met a couple from China who managed to escape to Canada after the woman became pregnant with a second baby. She’d been an employee of the Chinese embassy and they were calling her back because they wanted her to have an abortion.
One child policies can also skew the sex ratio. It’s absolutley plausible that Westerners might decide they like girls better than boys. If you’re going to only have one kid, it’s only natural that you get to choose the sex, right? (In this day and age).

Yes, and I understand Malthusian ‘population bomb’ Suzuki (at least he used to preach the perils of population growth until the global warming gig came along) has four.

Perhaps China is creating a middle class because they do capitalism better than the capitalist’s countries and yet they remain a poster boy communist country unlike those polar Russian types. Perhaps Dianne Francis has spent too much time in liberal land and needs to hop on a cross Canada via rail train trip to understand the vast emptiness of this blessed country. We have way more trees than people and that is our carbon problem
